Thanks, now the next dumb question. Will PPG3000 work over the top of paint. I guess you would need to know what paint is on the boat to answer that question correctly. That I don't know. I guess the safest thing to do is find a spot on the boat, paint on the clear and see how the paint reacts.
As far as the fuel tanks go, I ran my headers dry during "test runs" (everyone knows we don't race on public bodies of water) and I never had a problem with the heat affecting the tanks. I did this on boats that had glass tanks, aluminium tanks and stainless tanks. On some of the boats I would cut the water off with a valve, and on a couple boats I would actually run dry stacks. I wouldn't do a lot of idling around with the dry stack, you need the air flow to keep the away from the tanks. I did scorch the back of a back seat using dry stacks, but that's the only problem I had. That's my experience, good luck, Thanks for the information on the paint.
One more question, is PPG3000 sandable and can it be buffed. I'm not a professional painter and tend to have "flaw's" in my final coat.
