is 477ci bbc 800hp, bought it from Rick Moore out of his CP. I freshened it for him last January and Dynoed it at Smith-Fair in Atlanta, 4 dyno pulls and 5 1000' foot passes in the CP.

All kinds of stuff, coating headers, bowl and impeller change,  ride plate change, redoing wiring, and maybe some clear coat on the paint. Also tuning the shoe depth and building transom plates and suction pressure gauge. Just stuff that has needed some attention. Oh and a new N2o set-up.

That liquid dip graphix is pretty cool. If I can find me a scoop gonna have it dipped in the carbon fiber stuff. What all are you having dipped?

All new fab alum parts for Placecraft, seat bracket, custom shifter box, and alum dash panel. Gonna start there and trying to talk him into doing my tunnel ram  bling.gif, if I have any money left after a new motor and a rerig on the other boat, I want to send some parts from Wild Streak too. Oh and fuel tank will get carbon fiber dip too. (gotta send it back to get 3 return bungs welded in before coating it.) Gonna have to find a stopping point soon :smile28:

I'll probly use PPG 3000 I think is what is it called. Used it on my last boat and it turned out good. I dont have any gel-coat left. Boat was in bad shape when I got it so we stripped it down to the fiberglass and painted it with PPG Concept singlestage. Works good for an inexperienced painter like myself.

Hey Keith how do ya think the fuel tanks will hold up to heat being close to the headers? I run dry when making a pass.

Thanks, now the next dumb question.  Will PPG3000 work over the top of paint.  I guess you would need to know what paint is on the boat to answer that question correctly.  That I don't know.  I guess the safest thing to do is find a spot on the boat, paint on the clear and see how the paint reacts.
As far as the fuel tanks go, I ran my headers dry during "test runs" (everyone knows we don't race on public bodies of water) and I never had a problem with the heat affecting the tanks.  I did this on boats that had glass tanks, aluminium tanks and stainless tanks.  On some of the boats I would cut the water off with a valve, and on a couple boats I would actually run dry stacks.  I wouldn't do a lot of idling around with the dry stack, you need the air flow to keep the away from the tanks.  I did scorch the back of a back seat using dry stacks, but that's the only problem I had.  That's my experience, good luck, Thanks for the information on the paint.
One more question, is PPG3000 sandable and can it be buffed.  I'm not a professional painter and tend to have "flaw's" in my final coat.
