ride plate???

Ride plates are installed under yor pump housing and are like a trim tab on a regular boat. They will help with porpoising, nose high problems etc.

The ride plate extends the running surface of the bottom of the hull, as Cliff said, it can help with porpoising problems, as well as planing problems. The boat will plane faster, and bow height is somewhat adjustable. Some boats benefit greatly, some don't respond as well.

I agree with everything said so far. Normally a shoe is used in conjuction with a ride plate. In simple terms a shoe acts as a small scoop, force feeding more water into the intake. Shoe installation can be a problem as most of the time the intake has to be pulled from the hull for a machine fit. Hi-Tech Perfprmance and others offer a bolt on shoe/rideplate kit for most Berkley pumps that doesn't require machining.

One warning though
Set the shoe too deep and get ready for a wild shut down from speed

D & Esa, I quoted your posts for my pump ID thread.  If anyone can come up with a good pic of any of these add-ons I will add them to my original post.  I do not want to snipe them from a site selling parts for fear of copyright violations.

Here's my ride plate floating in a vast sea of parts that were removed from the Glastron, many of which will not be used again. OOh, looks like I have something there that needs to be blasted!!

When are you going to bead blast that plate and paint it white? Better yet, paint it the Blue metal flake...that would look good.

Or...you can blast it clean and leave it the aluminum look.

I think I'll just do it white to match the split bowl with a droop...

Alright, I have to get off the puter and fix 12 fridges real quick.
