New guy here, got a "new to me" boat, need some parts, some help, and info.
I purchased this boat, pics attached, from a guy in the Corpus Christi area, he said he originally got it from someone near Brenham, so I am assuming it's one of you guys past boats, or maybe not, but would be cool to know a little more history on it, this guy had it for about 3 years.
It says on the Registration paperwork 1977 Waterdog 18'. I cannot find any info on that brand of hull.... It looks kinda like a Hawaiin or something to me. It's full stringer, good solid hull, has "okay" paint and interior, has a good pump. The pump has a plate on top that says Dominator MB 12S, the plate on the back of the boat says Berkeley, it has a droop and diverter. It also has a Stainless impeller and new wear ring recently installed by Garry Snow. Spoke with him here via PM he confirmed he did do the pump work on the boat. I purchased it with no motor, the guy had a 460 Ford in it, blew it up. I have a 454 Chevy that I will be putting in it. I need some parts. Over the transom headers, oil pan, motor plates and brackets, water pump (or lack thereof) setup, alternator, pulley, flywheel, driveline, intake, and carb.
I wanted a boat I could stick my motor in and put it in the water to have some fun, not looking to drag race it much, just chill, cruise, and make a bunch of noise... Looking to put a basically stock 454 (468 I guess, it's .030), in the boat to keep it reliable. The impeller may be an "A" and I think I may need to be careful on my carb/cam/intake choices to be able to turn the impeller good, I don't know, I am pretty much a noob to jet boats.... So someone help me pick a cam for my motor, it's a 70's Truck block, .030 454 the machine shop that is building the motor said it will be around 9.5:1 compression.
I live between Hempstead and Katy, some of you may know me as Shimp, some may not and mistakingly call me "Shrimp" but there is no R it's just "shimp"...
