I have a 50 some odd qt. yeti cooler and have owned it for 3 yrs now. yes they are a little heavy empty, and yes they do hold ice for a long period. Example 4 days in west texas 100 plus temp with say 30 to 40 lbs of ice and i never have to add to it and even have ice for the trip home.
Another plus for a yeti is they dont slide around in the back of your truck destroying what ever it comes in contact with.
You can stand on top of them, even in the center of the lid,,no problem!
One other deal i like about them is no more chitty hinges like most coolers have that break after about a year of use. yeti uses a dowel type pin,,looks like a big a$$ nail for the hinge pivot,,part of it runs through the lid and part through the back of the cooler. one on each side.
I can say i dont baby mine! It has been thrown out of the truck at the deer lease on the rocks and the lid stayed closed and i have had the gooseneck camper come down on the lid too while in a turn,,gouged the chit out of the lid but didnt break anything.
I have figured out testing this one that i will buy another one! You do the math and you will figure out real quick that it is a good investment. I will never buy another Igloo or whatever they sell now days,,i dont have time for broke ass coolers and hot beer lol not to mention that most guys HATE Shopping!!!!
