Dominator Pump and New Motor rpm question?

I have a Tx-19 that actually I am finally starting to  restore. The gullwing hull is in great shape just gel coat and color I hate but getting it painted is not my concern or question... Currently I have a bbc in the machine shop getting pretty much redone completely so I'm not cutting any corners and building the motor that I have always wanted to build. My question is what is the maximum rpm that a Dominator pump can turn even if completely built? I ask this question because a good friend of mine said that it's only about 5,000 rpm! Is this true? If it is and I have a motor that can build power at higher rpm is this useless?

It will take whatever you build.  It will need a stainless impeller if you are gonna make more than 500 HP.  A jet pump is a lot like a dyno.  It takes a certain amount of HP to turn it so many RPMs.  In other words, if your engine makes it's max HP at 5800, you'll want an impeller that will allow you to get there.  Jets like big HP at lower RPMs.  A blower or turbos will make that happen.  A 'AA' takes more HP to turn than a 'A' and an 'A' takes more HP to turn than a 'B'.  Bottom line is that the harder you can turn a big impeller (AA) the quicker you'll be.  Hopefully, this helps.  :cool:

Yes  helps a lot because I was a little worried. Right now I'm building a all bore on a 454 solid roller motor with a 8-71 blower. I was hoping to be able to get the motor to have higher horse power at a higher rpm with the solid roller set up! The motor is going to make a lot more than 500hp and hoping to really get some mile per hour with my TX-19.

Well it's not a hydro v-drive but it's going to be ready for you and all to hopefully like this up coming summer! Name is going to be "RESURRECTION" because it's been dead but is being "RESURRECTED FROM ITS STORAGE GARAGE after 10 years". This time I'm not cutting any corners. Motors in the shop getting done through Late Model Race Craft complements of Brain and Pecos at Late model Engines. My boys can build some motors and I'm just throwing money at it. You were not kidding about what boat stands for "break out another Thousand" like every week crazy but my dream. For anyone wondering about southwind tunnel dragster and youngblood sold sorry. All toys had to go to many projects and nothing was getting finished. 71 cama :smile17:ro gone, my beautiful formula gone (makes me sick!) Focusing on just the custom craft tx-19
