Got my first Rock in my pump today!

Was a thrilling experience.  "I" like a dumbass ignored the "Shallow" buoy, and said to myself "ahhh, it's a jetboat, shallow don't matter much" while scouting some beach that WAS there last year at Gibbons Creek Reservoir today.  So I idle in past the buoy, and then turn to go out and the boat STOPS.    I shut it down and am now teeter-totering on some big ass rocks...

So we get it off the rocks, reached underneath didn't feel like it bent the loader or anything, went to take off and VIBRATION!  ...

Longer story shortened up, I tried to idle back to boat ramp but 3/4 way I heard some rattling and didn't want to mess up the pump if a rock was in there, so I got towed back in (THANKS DON FOR THE TOW) and put it on the trailer, crawled under there with Ed's flashlight and could see the rock just chilling in my pump, nothing looked damaged, it was way up in there in front of the impeller, I had Ed get my radio antenna from my truck, and just flicked it around until it fell back out of the pump and then back in the water and all was happy!  Boat was fine, no damage, even from the big rocks I drove on top of....

I have some pics, was a nice day out at Gibbons.  No pics of the rock, but the pics I have will post up.

Haven't picked up any rocks, mine sucked up a stick at Somerville last time out. It would idle along fine but give it any throttle & it'd just cavitate. Had to get it out through the inspection cover. Was pretty crazy that just that little stick would throw it out of wack like that.

Glad to hear you didn't have any damage. :wink:

Had a great time on Gibbons Shimp your rock came out easy compaired to the one i picked up at Birch Creek i couldn't get it out till i got home a two and a halh foot pry bar through the loader and it fell out but it put a stop to the whole day

Ed I like my dash spedo (75mph) better than your GPS (74.3) Hell no more than I put in the motor I never expected it to be in the (70's) :smile16:

You must mean John, he TOWERS over everyone in the pics, I don't how tall he is, but he's definitely taller than I am too.

Actually did you see John when he got in my truck to back me in?  I had the seat set to make me look like a big person  :smile16: He was all folded up.  I got in it to leave and I no touchy da peddles after he adjusted my seat.
