Why is diesel fuel more expensive than regular gasoline? I thought it was a bi product of gasoline production!

When demand for diesel exceeds the demand for gasoline, gasoline becomes the bi-product of diesel production.  :smile30:

The EPA now requires a low sulfer diesel.  The additives in the fuel to reduce to reduce emissions and water has cause the production prices to rise.  The fuel prices are set off of the opus price. And actually it is not a bi-product of gasoline.  Now I know that was a whole lot of crap you really did not want to know but I gave it anyway. crazy.gif

my wifes cousin works for a refinery,  he told me they are still producing fuel  for the same costs as when it was $1.50,  so we are just getting screwed  :smile23:

Prices are what they are because we are willing to pay them. Free market enterprise...

Retail values are set by consumers willingness to pay for them. When gas hit 4 bucks a gallon everyone quit buying unless they had too, and prices dropped. Oil is at all time record high and gas is at an sort of acceptable level. Should be a buck a gallon if you ask me... Just my .02
