Going to be building one in the near future, my friend found these and was asking if I heard of them. Yes the website seems a little dysfunctional. think.gif At that price, they are not an option. crazy.gif

Don't sound like they wear out. think.gif Why would someone have to wait forever for them? think.gif

I read a couple of threads on a VW (I think it was) site. Apparently they originally had some trouble with the tip falling off the steel lifter - so maybe warranty stuff?

I don't really know for sure about any of this, I'm just relaying info...

Still though, it really seems cheaper to go to a hyd roller setup..especially in the interested of future parts. It'll only take 1 failed lifter in a few years (and after Smith no longer makes them) for that to have been a throwaway purchase.

That's why I posted it. Looking for info, but the price alone will shut them down.

wow $ 810 for a new set .. They better not ever fail or wear out for that price ..
Supposed to have zero wear on the cam lobes., able to reuse the lifters on different cams, etc..

patch you gonna build a hydraulic roller motor?
He likes the hydraulic roller, but I believe it will be a little ol flat tappet. We are on a budget and need to get this boat back in the water where it belongs. At some point, I could see a roller sitting on the stand for future reference. think.gif

well from my experience with comp hyd roller lifters, i would end up pumping all the oil to the top of the block resulting in a drop in oil pressure. that was even with a 10qt pan, i went and got a set of iskyderian anti- pump up lifters and had no problem after that. the install is a bit weird on those howerver, you almost set the valves like a solid roller

All you high rollerS can buy that stuff, I will stick with a good flat tappet and a bottle of EOS

Really, I did not know that. Haven't played too much with hydraulic rollers outside of SBC and SBFs. The conversion kits I've heard positive and negative things. So I stuck with hydraulic or solid flat tappets. think.gif

they put oil restrictor in my block to limit the amount of oil on top , never heard of restricting it with the pushrods . Learn something new today ..

After I read this, it dawned on me...this is for LSx motors. They have a valve train priority oiling system - so installing the galley plugs in them only cuts oil to the mains.

I'm honestly not sure how well the oil restricting pushrods would work in other motors...

LSx motors can also use lifter bore bushings to do basically the same thing.

Most of my experience comes from LSX engines, and i have had some luck with Comp-R hydraulic rollers, but they dont do well with extremely agressive ramp rates.

Morel solids rollers work very well in the LSX series engines.  Im not too sure about flat tappets though.
