San Jacinto River Questions

Okay, I have never been.  Looked at it on Mapquest, using the Aeriel View, looks like fun, lots of sandbars, practically an infinite number of sandbars.  I am looking at the part just south of Lake Houston, where the Loves Marina is.  I see it curves around quite a bit here, and there is a lake, Mulshoe, though it looks more like a big pond to me.

Is the most popular part of the San Jacinto or is there another?  How are those sandbars?  Are they as nice as they look?  How deep is the water in the river?

If you go to mapquest and look up Loves Marina, then click on the Aeriel View button, you can zoom in and see all kinds of boats running up and down the river the day they took the picture.

Reason I ask is because this isn't really all that far from where I live, so I might want to check it out from time to time....

The water is usually up pretty good and you can always find a smooth spot around the bend. Not much salt as it is so close to the dam.Look forward to meeting you.    :smile10:

I surely will check it out.  My boat is getting worked on at the moment, I am re-carpeting and wiring it, and a machine shop is doing my engine, and I need some parts, like headers etc before I can get it all together but hopefully by mid-june (about 30 days) it will be ready to put in the water, will definately swing out that way sometime to check out the river, it looks nice from the pictures.

No problem, thanks for the welcome and invite.  Do you all ever go to Somerville?  I am about 45 mins from there so we will be there a lot too this summer.

I always see a group of jets out there at pecan lake, it's a nice little cove on the calm side of the lake.  I got another boat, and have been going to Somerville since 99.  I just got tired of the other boat and recently got a jet, it should be in the water mid-june and I will be dragging it around checking out all the local hotspots for jets.

Pecan and welch are the places to go on somerville to meet up with the jet boaters. I usually hang out at Welch, unless I am camping out at rocky creek that weekend, then I will go to pecan.

The 4 wheelers at naked cove had totally trashed it with beer cans and garbage.A bunch of us went in there and cleaned it up 2 weeks ago. They love to throw down the cans and run over them that grinds them up and makes a hazard for bare feet.If you pack it in pack it out!!!I will say all of the THB guys clean up after their self and try to keep that area clean. :smile15: :smile15: :smile15: :smile15: :smile15:

Sounds like a bunch of hillbillies, trashing the place like that. F*cking idiots. One of our off-roading areas ended up getting closed up, partly due to that kind of behavior. Sux.... :smile14:

It's probably CITY kids that are trashing the place with beer cans and four wheelers.  I don't see many country folk or hillbilly's trashing out shit, and it's a pet peeve of mine so I know.  It's most likely disrespectful, good for nothing, their mama and daddys didn't raise them at all, city kids.  Heck alot of them have moms and dads that are just as bad.... shame really.  Not saying all city folk are like that, I just don't see too many country folk doing stupid shit like that, it's usually the spoiled rich city brat types...  They are used to other people cleaning up after them.....  they have maids and gardeners and shit.....

Sorry you both got it wrong.I used to ride crosby alot over the last few years. It has seen a flood of (I am not prejeduice)mexican people. They seem to not give a sh*& about a trash can and if they do its to dump out the trash on the ground and use the can for something. It is definitly not the rednecks that ride out there they are the ones that started that place many years ago.And I dont think I ever saw a city kid out there I think they are all getting there hair bleached and wont get there finger nails that dirty.

I believe that.  Out where I live, middle of nowhere, historically a small farming community, the old people that started this community have died off, and their children have moved into the city etc and sold out the land in small .25-1.0 acre lots to mexicans.  About half of them are okay, the other half.... geeez it's like they think they own everything.

The most irritating thing that they do, which I absolutely do not understand, is they walk, or ride bikes or both down the middle of the road, sometimes with dogs, and when a car comes they don't get out of the way.  It's like they think they don't need to or something.... so I have got out and screamed at them, honked at them, rev'd the engine at them etc and sometimes they get out of the way, sometimes they don't and I have to go around them in the ditch, luckily I drive a truck....    Here recently they have started stealing from the various non-mexican houses and we happened to catch some of them (kids) and got the law involved, turns out some of them are like 12 and already on probation to begin with....  talk about respectful people....  my ass....  Then there are the others who seem to live just like everyone else and I don't have any problems with them....  Wish they could all be like that.....  especially since the growth in their population in my area has increased like 1000% in the last 5-10 years....

I ran over one of their dogs one time and the guy had the nerve to chase me down to my house...  A freind of mine was with me, and we went up to him in his car, and told him he needed to keep his pets fenced up, like our yard is...  He didn't like that too much seems he thought we should just yield for his dogs in the middle of the road everyday, NOT.  I need to quit talking about this shit it really gets my blood pressure up....

Surely if the place (titty hole or whichever spot is getting trashed out) is regularly getting trashed out there is something you can do about it.  I know some people hate involving the law in anything and want to handle it themselves (I am one) but seriously get the law out there, hell get immigration out there and things will likely change quickly.....

I said 4 wheelers, but thinking about it , there's more to it than that what I mean is that times have changed there's not that maney boats down there like there use to be ! shit 10 or more years ago it was going on .. So to just say that it was the 4 wheelers may not be all to blame ..theres 3 other  thb members that remember what it was like !!! :smile15: :smile15:
