I thought that would be an appropriate signature for a while ~ LOL

I tried to get it to work for me , but I have bad luck anyway .. I know Jim and EO both have has good success with it so I will not knock it .. But I am out for now on running the corn fuel ..

If you are no longer going to run E-85, you might want to just sell the carburetor and buy new carburetors for gas.  They would be set up close for what you want.
It depends on what the cost is going to be to convert the carb you are returning to gasoline, if it can even be done.
Sorry to lose an E85 user.

Jim - The carb is going back to BLP who built the carb for us .. They will set it up to my engine specs but for gas this time .. The carb was very expensive and this is the lest expensive way to get me a good 1050 Dominator set up for my engine .. They are charging me 160.00 to convert it back and test it ..
They sent me an invoice to show me what all they will do and what parts they will be changing back ..

I worked on number 5 cylinder last night with a pick and then hit it with a hone and I believe it is going to clean up OK .. I got most of the melted piston out of the cylinder.. This weekend , I will take a little more time and pick on it some more and hit it with the hone again .. I think I may get lucky and no real block damage .. She will still need to be bored or honed out but I am feeling a little better about it now .. Not sure how bad the bearings are going to be flatten out though , hopefully that Callie Compstar Crank is not hurt in there ..

I am glad things are looking a little better now.  It has been my experience the few days right after something happens are the darkest. There is the uncertainty of how bad our toy is broken and how much money it may cost.  None of us like spending money to just get back where we were.  Spending money is different when me want to make changes for an improvement, at least in our mind we can justify it.

The $160.00 to change the carburetor is less than I would have expected.  That probably is your cheapest route to get what you're looking for.

If it was me, I would definitely go with around 12 - 1 compression for the AV gas, but no more.  I ran that with an iron headed motor for years in the past and for several years in my current motor with 36* timing, that was before before the latest change to a blower.

I don't think you would be satisfied with a pump gas motor, besides that you would be pushing the pump gas motor to get more than it would be capable and you can burn one of those just as easy if not easier.  Your motor is capable of making lots of HP, so do it on AV gas.

I think I will shoot for like 11.5 to 1 and that will give me some power.. Jim that one year at Plowman , I had the 516 cubic inch engine with 10.5 to 1 and I ran 104-106 that wekend in all that chop .. So if I can run between 100-105 on AV gas I will be happy ..

I will just gear down and do it all in 1/8 mile or 1000 ft ..

That carb sell for 1450.00 from BLP , so 160.00 and they will set it up for my engine will work for me ..
