All it takes is one shittly home owner to try and ruin the fun for everyone.  It will be intersting to see how it plays out.

Simply another reason we moved AWAY from Weirdo-ville, and reside on Lake Belton. Hopefully our little slice of paradise stays the way it is.      :smile30:

Dont see how the town can rule over the water. Isnt the lake a state owned lake and patrolled and operated by Parks and wildlife?  whatever.gif

This is the problem and shows how lazy the p&w can be  think.gif  crazy.gif:

Parks & Wildlife Code § 31.092. Local Regulations.

(a) The governing body of an incorporated city or town, with respect to public water within its corporate limits and all lakes owned by it, may designate by ordinance certain areas as bathing, fishing, swimming, or otherwise restricted areas and may make rules and regulations relating to the operation and equipment of boats which it deems necessary for the public safety. The rules and regulations shall be consistent with the provisions of this chapter.

Years ago people use to go up past Pale Face (Pace Bend) park to a place called Cow Creek. It is across from the babtist encampment near Lago Vista. Still does not look to be many houses around there. It isnt as large of area as Devil's Cove and might be even less due to water level.

Do people still hang out there?

From reading the articles and the blog posts, it seems to me that the "Party goers" have screwed it up for the masses. As with anything, responsibility and respect of peoples property rights goes a long way. Though I love partrying on the lake, my sympathy goes with the landowners who have to tolerate the noise, trash, unsafe operation of boats the and congestion of the thousands of drunks in that cove.

I understand that the party in Devils cove was there before the landowners built their homes but it's time for the pertiers to move on as times have changed. As landowners, we all have the right to peace and quite and to use our land as we see fit (for the most part and barring HOA's).

Just my $.02

I dont know the whole story about Devils Cove. I have never been there. Most of my rafts ups consist of adults having some drinks and listening to music. Nothing ever wild or Havasuish.

If I had land up there and there were several hundred idiots blasting music and trashing the place I would be pissed as well.

I guess my idea of a party is somewhat different...

All the land owners need, is a couple of fat guys in banana hammocks to hang out in their back yards and listen to Barry Manilow for a couple of hours. All the party boats will roll out for sure. think.gif

We are not talking 50 bots or less. we are talking huge masses of boats in this cove. Attached is a sample picture of how many are out there.

Just a few weeks ago I was at the party cove on Lake Lewisville and though we were anchored away from the flotillas by about 100 years, I still could hardly hear a conversation in my own boat. I can only imagine how loud it is in the cove with this many boats anchored in it.

Devils advocate here… So people who by a house next to an airport runway or right next to a train tracks, well after both have been running for years, do they have the right to then mandate new laws, city ordinances for noise etc?? Guess what you bought a house next to a runway or train tracks. Your obligation is to now deal with it. You made a choice but wait you want “big brother” to fix it for you.. I say go home peeps

Crusader this is not direct towards you but only making an observation from the other side.

just my .02

I agree on both sides. I do have a feeling that the partying has the potential to get out of hand. There is always someone who screws it up for the rest. It's really no different than the land owners on the Guadelupe. If they didn't have to pick up yards of trash from their property, they mite have a different view of the floats that take place. But it is what it is, and there are no trespassing signs everywhere. think.gif

Sturat....no wories I can tell it wasn't a jab towards me.....however a train track and airport are quite a bit different than a group of people partying, disturbing the peace and polluting the lake. Airports and RR tracks are fixtures of economic prosperity and growth (Tax base)whereas people partying wildly in a cove doesn't help the community one bit. If you were to read the posts in the provided links you'll see that the city has had to hire a LE officer(s), purchase boats and police the partying because that part of the lake is in their jurisdiction. The partiers provide no economic benifit to the area and in fact are costing the taxpayers/landowners more money to police the area than what they are probably taking in.

Hey, I'm all about partying ina cove and having a good time but not at the expense of a home owners property rights and right to quite.
