Jet Boat Blues...

I got two jet boats, one old (bought from Esabataj son I think) , one newer (from some guy in Corpus), got all the parts almost all brand new, to put one of them together...  New motor, ALL.  I can't get motivated...  I am in the Waller area, which is west of Houston, between Cypress and Brenham.  Nearest lake is Somerville.  I've posted up some here before, been through a lot of crap in the last couple years, JUST got divorced :) Thursday.  I run my own business and am extremely busy this time of year, but I want to go to the lake on the weekends.... Ready to hit the water.  Also have a 78 Baja 16SS (little boat with weed-wacker outboard (115hp Chrysler))...  It will be on the water soon, doing some work to it.

As for the Jets:

I am just overwhelmed with the assembly of an entire Jet Boat...  Pump is there, supposed to be "ready", Dominator MB-12S, Stainless impeller, droop, shoe, ride-plate, grate, jet-o-vater (or maybe it's a place diverter?).  Bassett chrome over transom headers, lines, new gauges, 454 BBC domed pistons, big oval heads, Jetboat cam, $400 freaking oil pan, alternators, brackets, motor brackets, carb, distributor, and a box full of other shiz... I mean I got everything, even a new driveline.  I think I might need an intake Manifold...  But, that's probably about it, other than new fuel lines, fluids, misc bolts screws, etc....

Someone help.  I just don't think I can do it all myself being that it will be my first jet...

Added pic of the boat in question....  I will buy LOTS of beer, can barter with you if you want some Sundown Audio gear... I own dB-r Electronics, we are a dealer, and the repair shop for Sundown and many other brands...  Anyway, I just really need some help, hopeing someone lives close enough and can help me stick all this crap together, man I got a storage shed full of brand new parts...  None of my friends are really interested in helping me with this thing, the only one that was died in 2009...  I really would like to get it going, just need the motivation and some experienced help with it so I don't screw it up, I think I got $9000 invested in it...

don't lose you enthusiasm,  just start somewhere,  post up with questions,  there are some peeps close to you,  and get out and make some gatherings and meet some of us,  and things will start to fall in place.....  :smile27:

I am working on my little Baja, that will get me on the water so I can come out and meet up with folks.  I probably met some of you over the years at Somerville.  Usually at least a few Jetboats there at that one cove, pecan lake or whatever they call that cove... Hung out there many Sundays hittin the brews.  I am just a little afraid, afraid to mess up something, that motor costs me almost $3000 alone.  It's my first jet boat, and anything I learned a couple years ago when I started messing with these things I done forgot by now....

I'd pay someone, just depends on how much $$$, business is good, but I don't know if it's good enough for me to pay someone to assemble it all.  I can help, just no experience with jet boats, scared I'll mess something up, or I'd do it myself...  Would anybody be interested in getting paid for assembling this thing?  If so PM me, we can talk if it aint too $$ we can do biz.  I feel like I got so much invested in it no way I could sell it all....  You all know how that goes...

Talking to Duane...  I may just load up all the shiz and haul it down there to him and just pay him to put it all together.  I want this boat on the lake....  Then I have another one.... later project can take my time on that one... but this one... now....  got lake fever.

crazy.gif Guess most who have/had a jetboat went or going thru what your feeling. We take a 30/40 year old boat, restoring it takes almost a year, spend thousands cause theres only a small demand for some parts, and somewere between $10t/$20t its done.
:smile29:personally, redid two boats with my son,and for that! pricless! clap.gif it was fun,and with out help from friends, it would still be sitting in boxes.
In the end,you have a masterpice, everything shines, nothing but "cool boat" or "wish i had one",until you try and sell it.But that fact was known in the begining, but waht a rush during the ride.
Would not change the time spent with my son together, now that were out of "jetboats",we are (i'am ) looking into another project, corvett z06 some were in the early 2000's.H ave fun with your project,it will be a one of a kind, and enjoy the ride as all of us have done.

This right here is good advice...  :smile17:

I know what you're talking about Shimp, sometimes it can seem a little overwhelming. I have lost motivation to do anything on mine a time or two, just don't feel like messing with it for whatever reason. But, once I get off my azz & get out there & start tinkering with it I get back into it.  The thought of a gathering somewhere or even just a nice weekend sneaking up on me & the boat not being runnable is what usually does the trick, lol...

Come out to a get-together somewhere, check out some other sleds, talk to some folks, etc... Motivational purposes don'tcha know.

And, if you thinking about working with Duane, he is good people... He can take care of ya.
