Jet boat out of Bastrop Tx

Thanks for all the welcomes. I have been planning to go to jetfest. A few days ago I was out on little lake bastrop and got a knock in the motor. Pulled the heads and found that i ate up a piston. I never seen a piston break down like that. Looks like it had nitrous on it but it hasn't. It was only one piston, I'm hoping to flip the motor over and make sure the bottom end is ok. if it is I'm going to change out that piston and take another run at it.

P.S. when you were talking about the river are yall talking about he colorado in Columbus, tx.

well sorry to hear that about your motor.. and the river part.. well thats the san jac.. home of the cool peeps.... roger(kona) is out there..lol

Welcome to THB!  BTW, the real river IS the Colorado!   It actually flows...  We put in at Altair not Columbus.  There's too many rocks in the river when it's low.  Have you ever put in at Granger?

Their is only 2 ways the top of the piston gets rid of the heat from combustion and the main one  is thru the rings to the cylinder wall. You say you had the water blocked in,well their goes the one way to remove the heat, the other way is from oil slash on the bottom of the piston(not near as effective). So the pistons just keep heating up.I'd be worried about the rest of the pistons and the rings also.Heat is your enemy.
Good luck and welcome to THB.

Even if your boat is not running you are more than welcome to come to Jetfest. You ought to consider it either way.You might pick up some pointers and ideas that could possibly be helpful. As far as the San Jac VS. The Colorado both are good in there own way and both as different as night and day.I like em' both.Ps there will be a bunch of Ford guys at Jetfest.Patch,Kona,Duane, etc etc. They can tell you somethings you pobably never thought of about a Ford they live and breath Ford I think Kona has it running through his viens (and there is no cure)Anyway try to make Jetfest Meet some good folks and for sure have a good time.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm in Magnolia, and travel through Bastrop on my way to New Braunfels. I've often wondered if people boated on that lake.

Patchman, lake bastop is a small fishing lake. It is barley big enough to let my slow boat get to top speed. Me and some co-workers ski and wakeboard on the lake. It is a power plant lake so it is super warm. plus to that is you can be on it all year around. lol

The only time you ever get a lot of salt is when they arent letting water out of the dam they only shut it off when we have a dry spell so most of the time you cant even taste it.We always put in a Loves Marina off old hwy 90.(Not new hwy 90)They have a web site search  Loves Marinia Crosby TX.

Welcome to THB, I'm in Brenham, right up the road, usually go to Sommerville, but have been known to pull to San Jac.  Before you spend alot of money on your fried pistons, PM or call me I may have a quick inexpensive, solution to your problem.  Jim 979-451-3609

Keep at it, eventually, [maybe this year maybe next] that ford will run for a week or so.
