Radio Receivers

I am thinking of trying to run a couple races in 2014. What is everyone using for the Radio Receivers . I thought I seen a few people use the Nitro Bee receiver. It is about 100-125.00 . Will this one work for the SDBA and Lucas races ?  Anyone know the frequency SDBA runs on ?
I need this , a newer helmet , rope deflector and a throttle stop and a wod of money to run ..
Also - My dad want to take his RV and Golf Cart to the Waco race for us to use , what does it cost to have it in the pits or close to it ?
I need to find a part time job to pay for this hobby ..

thinking the M.E. class.. I think the boat should run in the mid 9's if knew how to drive, so maybe the M.E class  10.00-10.99 . Might have to start in the R.R. class as bad as i drive ..

yes nitro bee will be fine-SDBA & lucas 454-I velcroed radio holder to outside of helmet do away with long cord also put head phone speakers inside - you get golf cart pass with entry- dont know about MH fee varies at every site- dont forget balistic shorts-RR isnt that easy , better cut good lites

Thanks for the info . Yeah I know all the classes are hard . I am just doing it to play . I know cutting the lights and running the numbers is the important thing , I know I will not  be able to do either one of those no matter what class I start in .. I just doing it to try and see if i like it , plus my Dad wants to do a couple races with me .
I have the ballistic shorts , helmet restraints , the driving suit , the Lifeline jacket already , need some shoes and get the jacket re certified . Already talked to Kent at Lifeline about that ..
Sorry was not trying to disrespect any classes . I was making fun of my own driving .. My boat should be capable of running in the 10's pretty easy once it is set up right and I get it down on the launch .. But don;t know if I can make the boat do it ..
That is a good ideal on the Velcro and the helmet . So you used a different speaker than the ear buds ?

No doubt you can get down there in 10 seconds.  clap.gif

took no offense, a lot of luck involved in each pass, ear buds pull out when pulling on helmet by experience, make sure we get to meet at Waco, will help you in any way possible even if you run RR, you will love the pull to the starting rope, take apart a cheap set of headphones and use speakers, we pit with Fenceman

I think I met you last year or the year before at Waco . You were next to Brian Miller .. Me and My Dad came in to Brian pit and talked with him .. I am a big guy 6.2 and 275 LBS and my face normally get red from the heat ..
Is the pull at Waco harder than the Ft.Worth race ?  At least you going with the current in Waco until you make the turn right ?
Did you just glue the speakers inside and under the foam in the helmet ?

I seem to remember meeting, sometimers sets in, Wacos rope is very long and you have to turn a 180 to get lined up with course, if wind is blowing its even harder to turn, trick is to start turning boat before corner, be careful you might get hooked on drag racing, yes hot glue gun, some helmets have pockets

It sounds like it's being suggested that you start working out at the gym to get ready for the rope pull.

all I know is its hard on a 64 yr. old short fat boy, but the heat at Marble Falls in a driving suit, life jacket and helmet is a killer

It makes me want to jump right in and go racing.

Seriously, if the circumstances were right, I'd do it.

What I do not understand is they tow me a lot during test and tune, when the races start they stop.  crazy.gif  That rope is tough on a short guy with short arms.  :smile20:

racers trying to make as many passes as possible for their $100 TNT, not as many passes made in Qual. and even fewer in Elem. IMO
