How about yellow and purple.Yellow base and purple lettering.. It would be hidden or lost with the other yellow and purple...just a couple of cents worth... :smile20:

Well, a few set-backs... the trim ring for the transom does not fit the larger diameter of the Dominator bowl...so a quick trip to my local machine shop, and they enlarged the ID for fitment...

While I was there, had the crankshaft hole enlarged for my 533's external counterweight..

Time to check the fit on the front plate and get-r-done.

Well, the front plate was in pretty bad shape, I've been spending a little time polishing (again).....
started with 320 grit, then 600, then 1000, and a quick polish...still has scratches...need to try again.

Looks pretty good from here. So when sanding these pieces, you doing it by hand? Any special technique or method to the madness or you just gettin after it randomly.... I may have to try polishing the bell housing on mine.  :grin:

i had the same idea for my bell housinb,  but it is rough casting,  so i have decided to wire wheel it and paint with aluminum transmission paint

Mine's not too bad, I got it fairly shiny once before. Problem is once its in the boat, fuggedaboutit, more hassle than its worth, lol...

Just randomly screwing around....the 320 is too coarse for aluminum that was already polished....that's why I still have sanding sratches..should've just started with the 600.

Just randomly screwing around....the 320 is too coarse for aluminum that was already polished....that's why I still have sanding sratches..should've just started with the 600.

when i was polishing my logs  :smile20: i use 320 and 400 and used a 3M "perfict" buffing compound and the compound did a great job on removing the scratches using a buffing bob

Well, quick update: I've been working for about a week now on trying to clean a set of valve covers.... :rolleyes:

I had bought a set of new powder-coated Trick Flow valve covers, and I wanted them purple to match the controls, etc., so I took them to a local paint shop, and gave them a sample of the purple color...now this is the same shop that perfectly matched and repaired 5 different colors on my Hondo....I got back pink valve covers..... :huh:

Anyone try and remove paint, primer and powder-coating before? :smile14:

Finally have them down to bare aluminum..... :smile23: Gonna try and have them done again...different shop.

Got my vacuum pump in, working on mounting brackets for the alt and pump....a little each day.....anyone seen my boat?

Thanks for the update Duane. Good way to get the thread back on track too, was looking like Kona & Patch was gettin awful "frisky" there for a bit. :grin:


Wait, isn't that a kind of cat food, Friskie Vittles or something like that? lol :smile17:
