Why do you have to fab something for the steering?Duanehydro said:good Friday morning to everyone! Got lights in the shop again...just finished assembling the pedal, about to work on my loader/intake...painting my fluidamper today, too.
Looks like I'm gonna have to build some type of adapter plate to mount the steering to my dash. I'm having a machinist come over next week to help out on alt brackets , adapters, and such. Anyone want to drink beer Saturday at my shop? :smile17:

My old hull had a rotary steering in it....bolt pattern different, and hole size too big....if I use the adapter that came with the steering, it puts my steering shaft to shallow in the dash to mount the hubs and such....still thinking on that, was 7 beers down when I investigated..lol
JB WELD or Duct Tape ought to get it done :smile30:Duanehydro said:sturat said:Why do you have to fab something for the steering?Duanehydro said:good Friday morning to everyone! Reason I switched was the cable for the "morse" was gonna be in the 160 range and you can get the whole new rack and cable for less $$$Devilman said:Duanehydro said:It would with the supplied hub, it's just I'm using rex billet stuff, just gotta figure it out> I ain't cuttin' or grinding shit until I have a definite plan..lol
Ya I found when I changed mine from a rotary style to a rack that it wasn't "quite" a direct swap. I lucked out & didn't have to do too much. I think I would have been better off stickin with the rotary style, that rack & pinion ain't all its cracked up to be. Not for me anyway.... I have considered seeing if it could be lubed some way & then put it back in.
Hopefully yours doesn't require too much "riggin"....

KONA77 said:the rack is smoother but if you ever have to much bend in the cable, it becomes stiff and gets worse with age
