Yes, those are house boats.  I've stayed there a couple times myself and its a real nice lake!  Just make sure you bring plenty of rope for your anchor.  Its real deep in places!  The water's always clear too.   :smile15:

As organizer of this event, Trey know any shallow coves to hang out? Although it will no doubt be amusing to see people attempting to get back into their boats from deep water, (myself included), lol...

Devilman <------ recognizing the advantage of swim platforms..... :smile13:

Cedar ridge cove is not shallow but, the bank doesn't slope too aggressively, if I remember correctly.  I just remember going fishing up there just outside Cedar ridge cove and couldn't believe some of the drop offs on the depth finder.  Cedar Ridge also has a nice swim beach.  :smile15:

I don't recall any cabins.  There are plenty of house boats though.  It may take some searching but, you might be able to find one for rent.  :smile12:

LOL, oh I dunno.... Sounds like $$$, but really may not be bad at all....  Talked about it awhile back, some of us were in the planning stages of a road trip with the boats out to New Mexico & houseboats came up. It got put on the back burner ever went any further with it though....

I vote to keep it July 17 thru 19. The Del Rio trip may or may not happen. The Belton trip is a definite go. We camped up there for 10 days at a time for about 6 years in a row. It's a beautiful lake that's very well suited for jet boats. A lot of calm water because much of the lake is like a river with high cliffs that protect you from the wind. Cedar Ridge is a cool park. It's near the end of a dead end canyon. Leaving the park and going out the canyon to the main part of the lake the water is usually like glass. It has clean bathrooms and showers and a roped off beach area for the kids. There are marinas on the lake and even a few resturants. Plenty of small coves to anchor up in. Oh, and it has a water fall. My kids realy liked that. It is one of my favorite lakes.

Sounds like a pretty sweet set up. We would probably be down for this. Is it a real waterfall, or a waterfall like at the Indian Lodge....

It's a real waterfall. It's the effluent form a small power plant. They use lake water for cooling and return it via a 100' waterfall back to the lake. You can anchor off the beach and walk up too or even under the waterfall. The kids enjoyed it year after year. There are also some coves where you can go ashore and jump off the cliffs or overhanging rocks. Anything from a 5' to 35' jump, just pick your poison. From Cedar Creek to the dam the water gets more and more clear the closer you get to the dam. The only draw back I can think of is at this particular park there are no campsites right on the water. There are other parks closer to the dam where you are camped right at the waters edge. At least there were before last years floods. The lake was 20'+ over full pool for a long time last summer. I know Cedar Ridge has nice bathrooms and showers. I haven't really checked out the other parks because we like Cedar Ridge so well. If anyone is going to come to this deal I would suggest you make the reservation ASAP, 180 days in advance is the soonest.

You would run open headers at your own risk. That is against the law in Texas. Chances are you wouldn't be stopped. But, if we show up with two dozen high performance boats, word would get out pretty quick and might draw some increased attention by the game wardens. In the times I have been on the lake I seldom see a game warden.

Ashley and I have decided to start a new Hot Boat event at Cedar Ridge Park at Lake Belton.(Thanks to Texas Jet for giving us the idea to have it there). We would like to have it July17-19 next year because it seemed like there wasn't much going on around that time this year. If there are people interested, we would like to have t-shirts and koozies for sale along with FREE bbq on Saturday. Right now we just need to know who would be interested in attending and if July 17-19 would be a good weekend. I will post the link for the park tomorrow...

Still pretty close for you Sweet Addiction. Thanks Tim for the input. It did seem kind of dead around that time...
Sorry for deleting the previous thread...

:smile19:
Thanks, Trey
Hey Trey, be careful how you word this deal! as an Event.  just leave it as a large group of friends getting together for a camp out,,otherwise you may wind up having to get special event permits and stuff,,and that can be a pain.

Glad to see there is some interest in the get together... Thanks for the door prize offer Cookieman. We may get in touch with you a little closer to the gathering.
I know its too soon, but we would like to get an idea of how many are interested for food, t-shirt & koozie purposes.
Ashley and I are going to check out Cedar Ridge Park and take pics, check out the camp sites/cabins if any and get the scoop on the rules and regs. Probably around Thanksgiving.

I have never heard of anyone getting pulled for open headers at Somerville...
So I wouldnt think Lake Belton would be any different, both Lakes being ran by the U.S. corp of Engineers. I figured if you are running wet headers shouldnt be a problem.
Thanks everyone for yalls input. Keep it coming... :smile15:

Do you know if they have any cabins at the park ?
As far as i know & what others tell me there are not any cabins, but supposedly there are house boats to rent.
I am going to drive out to the park & see what they have. I am staying in a tent with an AC unit stuck in the door.
