Thanks, its nice to see it back into a rolling Chassis with proper alignment and the rake I envisioned after a long 15 year wait. Next to get done the motor mounts so I can get that mounted up then replace the few parts on the motor that need it and go through the carbs and get her fired up. mount the handle bars, wiring, seat and controls and see if I can ride it around a bit will be giddy as a ... well hell I don't know when that happens. Hoping to later on get a 21" front wheel instead of the 19" I have on there now.Knotty said:
CJ says that the bike started like as a 78-81 Kawasaki KZ 400LTD. CJ bought it with a modified front end where someone welded over the top of the KZ neck a Neck from a Honda CB750 and welded some really bad extensions on the forks. CJ cut off those extensions and welded 1/4" thick dom tube extensions with sleeves which should make them stranger than the original forks. CJ also cut off the CB neck then Cut of the KZ neck and also cut off the twin down tubes bent them out to the front and intowards the center. CJ welded back in the CB750 Neck in the position its in now then welded in the new 2" down tube made of 2" x.120" DOM tubing. CJ also made the rear struts to go in place of the shocks that were not existant at the purchase of the bike. The original 400 motor has been replaced with a 500 motor from a kawasaki ninja sportbike. The motors were virtually identical in dimensions. With the neck fitting at such an angle and so close to the frame CJ needed to modify the front inset of the tank to fit around the neck. CJ still has a lot of work to do but this part was a major hang up for him over the past 15 years since the old neck was not welded on straight nor was it at enough of a rake angle for his taste and the look CJ wanted for the bike. When CJ gets home he will measure the length of the bike. It is a very long bike and probably won't fit most bike trailers. CJ's nephew has told him that he needs to stretch the rear out 2-3" as well and CJ has thought about it especially with the seat CJ has planned with the sissy bar as well.Devilman said:Awful low to the ground..
