Glad to see yours is going back together.  I still have a little more taking apart before mine goes back together.
My rudder seal needs replacing, so that means lifting the boat off the trailer with the motor still in it.  Usually the motor is out and it's a piece of cake.

I'm looking forward to warmer temperatures, but we still need a lot of water for the river.

Jim I pulled my rudder a few years ago and changed it on the trailer . I just lifted the back of the boat with my engine hoist about a foot off the trailer and that gave me enough room for the rudder to drop out .. I just tied on to the engine and lifted the back of the boat , Had no problems doing it that way ..

I'm looking forward to meeting you and Galen in person this year. I'm hoping we can finally make it happen this year. Keep me posted on your outings.

We don't build these boats not to run them do we? Lol  :smile17:

Oh yes the popular misconception that v-drives are glued to the trailers from the factory............  crazy.gif

Most places I go you have to drive to get to the hang out spots though so my v-drive actually has to come off the trailer to go hang out.  :smile26:

There's getting to be several boats again in my area but the local lake is now very impressive but its all we have thats close.

This is a piece of cake .. I have taken this engine in and out more time than I want to count .. It is just taking me a little longer this time , so I can check stuff that I normally don't check .. I am in no hurry , it too freaking cold out to run the boat anyway .. It will be ready by Spring ..
I need to change a couple of the cavitation plate control pads or whatever they are called , mine are getting some slop in them ..

Stacey-- We will be at Waco for sure .. I paid my Membership and I am not going to waist that money ..
I still need to bite the bullet on a new prop , just cant decide who to go with .. Dallas or Bergeron , then it will be time to get the boat dialed in..

Billy, I'm not sure what you have for a prop but I would run it first and see about borrowing some props to see how they compare versus just buying what's recommended but thats just me. Good luck!  jump.gif

Loren
I think Billy's prop is chromed, if my understanding is correct, SBDA doesn't allow Chromed props.
Maybe that's only for certain classes.

For the power Billy makes, I think he will have to run a class that doesn't allow chrome props.
You probably know better than I do about this.

I've talked to some others about lifting the boat that way, and they seem to agree thats an OK way to do it.
But you do have more experience in pulling your engine than I do.  :smile23:

I've seen k boats with chrome ones. Mine was chromed. They would frown in a TAF. Don't worry about it. I know the tech guy :smile30:

Well to my understanding of SDBA rules no chrome underwater gear allowed, props, rudders or struts. And the prop guard on my boat is removable so just take it off and drop the nose of the trailer and drop that rudder.  :smile30:

I don't have a Chrome prop .. I did have a Chrome  rudder but i changes it out a few years back . The fin( skag )  was chrome at one time  but not anymore ..
Dam Jim , why you picking on another V-Drive guy .. I though we were friends .. I will be ready to go soon .. I got my Cavitation stuff yesterday and the new steering wheel . Even got me a spare Distributor Rotor in case I need it later .. This is a hard one to find .. It is for a MSD Pro Cap..
Jim will you be ready to go the first of May ?? I think that will be a good test weekend for me .

I will say probably it will be ready, with a 50/50 chance of being right.
I don't have much that needs to be done, but I've sure taken it apart for not doing much.

Like you, changing the rudder seal requires removing the fuel tank and putting it back in.
The carbs are also apart from being drained.
If I'll just get started, it'll get finished earlier.

I sure thought your prop was chromed. -- OOPs    :smile19:

I hope all you guys are safe and have a great time. I won't be there. Prior commitment. But I will be missing the chance to see you all.

What a crappy weekend .. It rained almost the whole weekend . Sun finally pop out yesterday about 6PM , so I had to knock the weeds down some with the mower .. I did not even get out to see the boat ..I got all Cavitation stuff , Steering wheel and got both of my MSD 6 AL boxes  and they are just waiting to be installed .. Both MSD boxes were bad that  I sent off to MSD and got them back Saturday .. Mine was bad and the spare I got from Henry apparently had some issues , Bit MSD shows both are ready to go now .. . Now I just need it to dry up some so I can work on the boat and get this stuff done . Can't work in a wet and cold storage shed .. Come on Sun , let dry it up this week ..

I think the way they are talking?? Most of the week is looking good? Maybe a chance Thursday? But I think it's just a isolated chance? I hear you on the mower!! Going to have to break mine out today! I refuse to spend the weekend mowing! Lol I'll save that for during the week...

Yeah - I had to mow yesterday , Mower is all muddy and wet grass everywhere , but it had to be done .. I don;t like mowing wet grasss, but that stuff was over a foot tall already and it would grow so fast as soon as the sun pops out today ..
I agree , Mowing has to be done during the week after work so I can work on the boat on the weekends..
There is no way I could even get backed up to the boat to pull it out of the shed right now if I needed to do stuff to it outside .. Maybe it will dry up by Friday .. I will need some room to get under it and adjust the plates after I install all the new hardware ..
