Congratulations on a successful dyno run. Now to just get it in the boat. Time is going to drag for you till spring gets there I bet.

Are you putting a governor on that monster motor? Do you remember when Billy last took you for a ride in your boat?

No governor Jim. With the valve springs in Billy's I would like to see it actually stay below 7500, it has good parts in it. I am running 4 5/8 stroke in mine but a 7 inch rod.  9/16 .185 pushrods and 1025 open spring pressure. I am going to limit mine to 7500 also. I am just nervous, I dont want him to have any issues.

I have to agree and after looking at the dyno sheet Iwouldn't go over 7300 at the lake/river. But hey I don't even spin my 489 above 7300, long motor life is good. :)

I don't know why we are even talking RPM's on here , Everyone knows that my boat is just a trailer Queen and it never gets in the water and if it does , it never get ran hard ..  crazy.gif
I need to see what chips I have  that I can stick in the MSD .. I will find something around 7200-7400
The one time I got a ride in it, It was running pretty damn good.  That was the day it ran 114 too I believe.  not with me in it but still was damn fast.
Patch your right though about those figure 8's  Almost got thrown out the side of the boat.  Good thing Billy has that Oh Sh!t handle.

Nice numbers billy! Thats almost the exact engine we built! Ours was a 605 with same heads and made the exact dyno numbers on 93. Octane! So thems great numbers congrats

Thank Mike .. The heads is what made this thing come to life .. Brodix BB-3 Extra Heads flowed 440 CFM , with the spring upgrades ..
I give all the credit to Galen , he is the one that took the time to massage all the parts to get them to work the best ..
Never thought it would have made 951 on 91 Octane pump gas though .. I was hoping for 800 and anything above that would have been a bonus ..

Now I need a pump gas mopar, with a pair of these.

Do it the easy way - use a Chevy.  :smile27:
The thought sometimes creeps in. But I just can't do it Jim :smile16:

It's difficult to say what you've done with yours doesn't work.

Oh well, I tried.
At least you're honest about what your's is called, A Hemi and not a Chrysler.
I call mine a Chevy, even though it doesn't have a single part from Chevrolet.
However, I do use a modified dipstick from Chevrolet for checking the oil, but I don't keep it in the dipstick tube.
How many Chevrolet parts does Billy's have?

Strange how that works.

Mine is a Wedge Jim, she's not a Hemi.  It is based on a 440. Same deck height, bore spacing, etc.  ( I do want one some day). My distributor hold down and oil pump drive shaft bushing is genuine chrysler factory parts.  It does use big block chevy rod journals and wrist pin diameter though, (A lot more rods available for Chevy). On Billy's I think maybe the oil filter adapter is a GM part.

Sorry about calling yours a Hemi, I assumed it was.  It shows what I know.
So yours does have some factory parts?
With todays engines you never really know whats inside.
Are the journals normally the same for Chevy and the wedges or is the crank special ordered?

Now that you mention the filter adapter on Billy's being a GM part, I'm not sure about mine now, I'll have to ask E.O..

Galen, whatever you have it runs really good, thats all I know.

Jim the stock Chrysler rod journal diameter on the big block is 2.375. You can order a crank with Chrysler journals or 2.2 Chevy. The Chevy journal gives us a little more rod to block clearance and a whole lot more aftermarket rod choices. The head I showed in the picture is a Predator, Indy bought the rights to them. They make them for a Hemi or Wedge head bolt pattern. That is probably the best Mopar head available excluding the pro stock type Hemi. It flows 470cfm as cast or 540cfm ported. My heads fully ported flow 20cfm less than Billys for twice the cost. The ones in the picture are 6K no port work. No more aftermarket iron blocks are being made for us now. The company that made mine is gone now. We have aluminum Keith Black or Indy blocks available but 5K plus. I love my mopars but it is getting cost prohibitive to build one again.
