I learned with out sims and or buddy cord. They just talked to me as I flew. I think technology has made the sport alot easier to get into. I agree with Gregg, the idea is to find the best trainer that will aid in keeping someone in the hobby. Best trainer being the most stable, forgiving, priced rite, and easy to repair. That's where the list starts to narrow. Flying conditions and field conditions are extremely important. The field at Brents was OK for experienced pilot but not ideal. Power lines at end of runway are not good idea. Move the runway back and away from the pit, and it will be great! I think it's obvious that there is a wealth of info here to help Duane with the hobby! :smile30:

CG is the center of gravity usually about a 1/3 of the way back from the leading edge of the wing! on an ARF plane this is all figured out ahead of time for you so there is no guess work.

When you build a plane you have to be careful where you place the battery and servos,,thus CG
imagine if you mount everything to the rear in the plane and it takes off? it will head to the stars and wont come back till it runs outta fuel and there is no recovery because it will be coming in tail first! or If you get too much up front you can take off with full up and barely climb and as soon as you try to level off it nose dives.

I have built several kits and also took all my dads old control line planes and converted them to RC lol wasnt pretty but it worked!

I think good ol fashioned Elmer's glue is the same stuff.  :smile21:  You need to go check out the RC Hobby shop anyway.  Lots of changes since you were there last.  bling.gif
