Duanehydro said:of course, I must say, if the landing strip didn't have 4 wheelers and pickups parked on it, Tim's landing would've been easier, IMO.
oldbuck40 said:Piss on that little electric! He's crazy.gif Get that Alpha 40 you were talking about and go with someone that can handle and get up in the air,,oh and a simulator aint the same either,,its close but nothing like real stick time!Duanehydro said:Just got back from the lhs....he's dead set on me owning a foam electric.... :smile29:
I spent some time on his simulator, IDK.......the trainer seemed very slow and easy....flew an extra 300 and did pretty good...even landed that sucker!
It took me about 2 or 3 weekends before i went solo and try to stick with the same person ever time.
DISTURBED said:I just want say this, "If you have never flown an RC successfully, always fly with an instructor.". My very first airplane ended up in a ball because I thought I could fly by myself. $.02. This advice WILL save you time, money, and frustration.
Man that really makes a lot of sense!KONA77 said:oldbuck40 said:Mustang i would not consider at all until you get plenty of time under your belt. See the Alpha 40 IS a trainer and the Mustang well lets just say you are jumping from the bottom damn near up to the top all at once,,and yes you will crap your pants the first time you get a hot plane in the air and cant deal with it...Duanehydro said:lol, My LHS owner is heavily into flying, I'll ask him what he thinks, too. Problem is, every time I go in there, he's in a different mood.... think.gif
I want something to fly outdoors, without having to wait for a "perfect" day to fly. There are several good deals out there....still checking it out.
Next plane after the trainer i would suggest like an ugly stick or something like an ARF Box fly 20 or 40,,now those planes will do damn near anything you throw at it and some!
well oldbuck things have changed since 13 years ago..... the guy that help me with mine said it was the easiest plane he had ever flown for being a trainer..... :smile29:
True! i have been looking at the new stuff and they have come a long way for sure!KONA77 said:i'm with you on helping people go the right direction on learning to fly, because it can and will get very frustrating, i was just trying to point out that there is alot of options in trainers today, one doesn't have to stay with a high wing, it they don't want to..... from my expierence, and i learned the hard way... what ever trainer one gets, get with someone to help...... and lot of new trainers today come with flight simulators and they do pay off..... just my .02
ROFLMAO oh hell yea i remember those days! Ya ever took a new plane off and forgot to check the CG :smile26:KONA77 said:AGREED, expierenced flyer and trainer cord and buddy box, i remember when i first went up, not the first feasco, but the first time with a buddy box, he got it flying for me and told me to take over, man my heart went to racing and i started to shake, flew for about 2 or 3 minutes and told him to take back over and land the damn thing i gotta sit down :smile27:
talking bout perfect weather, I was so dead set on learning my first time up was in 25 mph winds, every time i went to the field it was like that and that was all i knew how to fly in and then one day went out and the wind was calm and that was like learning all over again, no wind to slow the thing down for a landing :smile30:
