Patch the reason i bought another is because i tried to fly the first one in an area that had to many trees and stuck in one,  but believe it or not,  very little damage was done.... i chose to buy another  :smile30:

It seems we have a light tower left over at the property until monday, we are gonna build a better airstrip. further from the lines and fence. Looks like another weekend at the pits....anyone?

of course, I must say, if the landing strip didn't have 4 wheelers and pickups parked on it, Tim's landing would've been easier, IMO.

Just got back from the lhs....he's dead set on me owning a foam electric.... :smile29:

I spent some time on his simulator, IDK.......the trainer seemed very slow and easy....flew an extra 300 and did pretty good...even landed that sucker!
Piss on that little electric! He's crazy.gif  Get that Alpha 40 you were talking about and go with someone that can handle and get up in the air,,oh and a simulator aint the same either,,its close but nothing like real stick time!

It took me about 2 or 3 weekends before i went solo and try to stick with the same person ever time.

oh I gotta comment on this.....  my pts P- 51 came with a flight similator and got with someone to help me fly.....  kinda had the same comments you have and guess what.... i was soloing in 30 minutes  :smile26:

I just want say this, "If you have never flown an RC successfully, always fly with an instructor.". My very first airplane ended up in a ball because I thought I could fly by myself.  $.02. This advice WILL save you time, money, and frustration.

First time I ever flew was a trainer with a supertiger 46 on it I didn't have no one to help started it took off flew for about 20 minutes guy walked up asked if I ever flew before I said "Nope" he said I was doing fine and did I need help I said maybe landing might be a problem he said "It's just like taking off, except in reverse order." (seriously thats what he said) about that time I had just turned back into the wind down past the runway and motor ran out of gas glided it right in nice and smooth rolled to a stop about 10 feet away and the guy said "See I told you." and walks off to get his plane out of the car... turns out he was the instructor for the North Texas Aeromodeler's RC Club. I flew there for like 15 years after that and he always walked out and asked me if I needed help when I was at the field. Everyone else in the club thought he was being snide about a crash or something until I told this story to them one day.

lol, My LHS owner is heavily into flying, I'll ask him what he thinks, too. Problem is, every time I go in there, he's in a different mood.... think.gif
I want something to fly outdoors, without having to wait for a "perfect" day to fly. There are several good deals out there....still checking it out.
Mustang i would not consider at all until you get plenty of time under your belt. See the Alpha 40 IS a trainer and the Mustang well lets just say you are jumping from the bottom damn near up to the top all at once,,and yes you will crap your pants the first time you get a hot plane in the air and cant deal with it...

Next plane after the trainer i would suggest like an ugly stick or something like an ARF Box fly 20 or 40,,now those planes will do damn near anything you throw at it and some!

well oldbuck things have changed since 13 years ago.....  the guy that help me with mine said it was the easiest plane he had ever flown for being a trainer.....    :smile29:
Man that really makes a lot of sense! lets see the guy that helped you flies right? so im guessin he's not a beginner so the plane in question yes would be easy for him!

I was just trying to help Duane NOT make the mistake many beginners HAVE and ruin their first time out on the field by driving it straight into the ground and they say F' IT and walk away from a very fun hobby.

Believe it or not i saw a guy buy a low wing sport plane (BRAND NEW) radio and all "because thats what he wanted" made one pass down the field and could not handle it,,well it crashed beyond repair and he took the whole plane radio and all of his stuff and threw it in the trash!!!

We never saw him again crazy.gif

i'm with you on helping people go the right direction on learning to fly,  because it can and will get very frustrating,  i was just trying to point out that there is alot of options in trainers today,  one doesn't have to stay with a high wing,  it they don't want to.....  from my expierence,  and i learned the hard way... what ever trainer one gets,  get with someone to help...... and lot of new trainers today come with flight simulators and they do pay off..... just my .02

True! i have been looking at the new stuff and they have come a long way for sure!

I learned to fly before i bought anything and using,,,,hah still remember his name Morris Jenkins airplanes i was at his mercy on learning all the how too's blah blah blah like i said 2 or 3 weekends i went solo,,well its Texas!!! you cant pick your perfect weather lol

I learned using 2 radios with a trainer cord,,i flew till i screwed up and he would flip a switch on his radio and take over!  Man that was a long time ago.. Hell sitting here thinking about it i got about 18 or 19 yrs stick time and have flown a bunch of different planes! might try and make it another humpteen years jump.gif

AGREED,  expierenced flyer and trainer cord and buddy box,  i remember when i first went up,  not the first feasco,  but the first time with a buddy box,  he got it flying for me and told me to take over,  man my heart went to racing and i started to shake,  flew for about 2 or 3 minutes and told him to take back over and land the damn thing i gotta sit down    :smile27:

talking bout perfect weather,  I was so dead set on learning my first time up was in 25 mph winds,  every time i went to the field it was like that and that was all i knew how to fly in and then one day went out and the wind was calm and that was like learning all over again,  no wind to slow the thing down for a landing  :smile30:
