lol, My LHS owner is heavily into flying, I'll ask him what he thinks, too. Problem is, every time I go in there, he's in a different mood.... think.gif
I want something to fly outdoors, without having to wait for a "perfect" day to fly. There are several good deals out there....still checking it out.

Mustang i would not consider at all until you get plenty of time under your belt. See the Alpha 40 IS a trainer and the Mustang well lets just say you are jumping from the bottom damn near up to the top all at once,,and yes you will crap your pants the first time you get a hot plane in the air and cant deal with it...

Next plane after the trainer i would suggest like an ugly stick or something like an ARF Box fly 20 or 40,,now those planes will do damn near anything you throw at it and some!

My second plane was a four star forty!  Very stable for landing and a nice entry into aerobatics.  :smile16:

Duane, if you're serious, get a Saito four stroke right off the bat!  The Saito 56 works well on all 40 sized aircraft and the Saito 72 works well on most 60 sized aircraft.  I had a 46 sized P51 with and OS 90 four stroke and it was awesome.  The four strokes are a little more pricey but, worth the extra cash!  :smile30:

Also, think about this:  If you ever plan or think you're gonna have flaps or retractable gear, you're gonna need more than a four channel radio.  Just a thought........

I'm pretty sure that engine quit due to a twitch of the throttle servo.  The battery was old and I didn't have a whole lot of confidence in it.  I wanted to replace it but, I just could justify the extra cash.  Hind sight 20/20.

See what a little twitch can do to an RC airplane! I thought the plane looked great, you where just a victim of circumstance! That was the worst possible scenario!

Just got back from the lhs....he's dead set on me owning a foam electric.... :smile29:

I spent some time on his simulator, IDK.......the trainer seemed very slow and easy....flew an extra 300 and did pretty good...even landed that sucker!

Piss on that little electric! He's crazy.gif  Get that Alpha 40 you were talking about and go with someone that can handle and get up in the air,,oh and a simulator aint the same either,,its close but nothing like real stick time!

It took me about 2 or 3 weekends before i went solo and try to stick with the same person ever time.

that's the nice thing about that pts p-51 trainer i have is its got the large wheels.... and a very strong landing gear,  believe i know i have one and its very stable and i'll say this while you buy your second plance i'll still be flying the p-51 because it progresses into a sport plane.....  but i'm definitely not trying to sell anyone on anything......  i got what i like and each to their own  :smile27:
