$7.82/galllon for the 110 & $12.09/gallon for the C-14? Damn that's making me remember why I put this pump gas motor together to try. Damn I guess my age show's I remember buying C-12 for my motocross bike for $3.35/gallon.

So it comes in 54 gall drums. I have always bought it by the gall from the local race car shop and never bought it by the drum. I thought someone told me it was sold in 50 gall drums. $12.00 is better than $13.00 but still not cheap.

E85 price is $3.38 gal.
According to some people it offers a performance gain over race gas.

I don't think so, but who am I to disagree.
Maybe I just need a super duper killer tune up.

I thought about it with my other engine but around me E85 is as big of a hassle to get as av-gas.

The performance gains well you'll have to tell me I never personally ran it but its not what some people clain IMHO. However I do know it supports more compression and boost than pump gas and its cheaper.

E-85 is a lot cheaper until you lean out an engine on it and melt about half your pistons and burn your cylinder walls .. .. LOL.. I know it could happen on any fuel .. Sure is bad when it happen to me twice ... I know I could  bought a 1000.00 belt driven fuel pump and try it again , but I will try the race fuel this year and see what happens ..

All I know is when I was testing that last day , the race gas had almost 6 mph speed over the E-85 set up and I was not leaning on the tune up .. I think it would have ran a little faster with some more tunning on the race gas set up .. .. Maybe with a  blower or turbo E-85 might be better . but my experience I would say it does not perform as good for a natural aspirated engine .. But it  is  a hell of a lot cheaper if you don't hurt your engine ..

Loren you are correct on the price per gallon as it come 54 gallons in a drum

Sorry about your engine issues Billy, not sure what happened with your deal. I know of a good friend that ran E85 in a NA carbureted 13:1 406 SBC and has had no issues. The other two guys are running EFI set ups and haven't had any issues either. I agree with your experience I would be concerned, from my research you need about 28-30% more E85 than gas so there needs to be some major carb changes.

I used to buy race gas and just couldn't justify it for how I use my boat anymore. Of course with these outlaw deals I also had settling for 10:1 when other guys are running 13:1+.

How's your new build coming along anymore details? Good luck on it and I hope you can make that Fathers Day deal.

The carb I had came from BLP and was set up for my engine and I was running BLP jet sise of 130 , the problem was lack of fuel volumn .. I was running a  big mechanical fuel pump and two machine shops now have told me that for the engine size and RPM I needed to go to a belt driven fuel pump to be safe .. I wished I would have known that before I hurt it .. Oh well , another hard lesson learned ..

I think the new engine might see the Dyno next week .. It will all depend on if I have any money left over to be able to make it to the event .. I know Galen wants to try and make it also but he want to get a little more seat time before he lines up against some one .. I told him to come down thsi Spring  and we can practice against each other.. I don't mind getting beat my a Mopar powered Hydro ..It would be good for each of us to practice against each other to see how we are launching and how each boat does different going down the track ..  I know I most likely will need to get a better prop , my prop burns way to long  last year and i think it will be worse this year .. Just hard to spend that 850 for a new prop ..

I am curious if anyone knows as to what the shelf-life (sealed) is and how long it will stay usable after opened on the 114? Also, does it come dated so you know you are not buying old gas.

I do not know for sure , hell I can't keep it long enough to find out . I will check the 3 empty drums I have at home and see if they have a date on them .. Not sure

Somehow I knew that would be your response. LOL!!! Sorry for all the questions but like I said before, I have always just bought what I needed and I have not needed that much at a time. That will all be changing with the new engine for the boat so I am trying to find out what I am getting into. Thanks!!

At first $600.00 sounds expensive to me,  but then I remember it used to cost that much just to fill up the tank in the last boat I had anyway, so I guess it is all relative!!! LOL!!!

I understand hindsight is great I could have saved myself a lot of time and headaches if I would have known what I know now 21 years ago when I started with this boat. Lol  Oh well I guess it was the journey and learning experiences that make this hobby enjoyable…..

I'd be real curious to see your dyno sheet and I think your new deal will absolutely bypass what your goal was!!!

I'm thinking about a new prop as well, on one of mine it just burns and never really seems to hook up until near the end and the other comes out of the hole well but seems to have a lot of slip up top. I have a few friends recommending the WM design Menkens if I don't want to break loose for a Joey Grose prop. Harold Kindsvater seemed very knowledgable and seemed like he'd be easy to work with. Tom Bentley didn't seem like he'd ok to work with but I haven't heard as many runner bottom guys running or liking his props as well as the others. I really need to get the video camera back in mine and get solid data on my flash, pull down and peak rpm all I really know now is flash and peak with the new set up and all the prop guys want my pull down and recovery info too.

I guess we won't bring up the $4.00 a gallon fuel prices or the lowest stock prices in decades under Busch.

The Stock Market Closes At Another Record High today

Erik Folgate

The Dow Jones and the Nasdaq closed at record highs today at 13,633 and 2,592, respectively. Now, the question is, when will the Dow hit 14,000 and when will the Nasdaq hit 3,000? Today was a significant one, because we saw the market pull through some early news from China and the release of the Fed’s minutes that could have caused the markets to dip down.
