If you are not removing the moulding, then stripping the boat back to the original gel needs to be reconsidered also. I would probably try to work with the existing paint surface because stripping up to the rubrail without removing it will be next to impossible to make it look right.
That was my other concern. The boat has allot of chipped spots, but the paint is adhering great! So it may be a feather and seal kind of job! think.gif

Patchman after seeing the pics leave it on there or you will capp the hull. Those guys that put that stuff on there are like artists. Just like sheet metal guys on aircraft.

I guess I will be the one to say it  think.gif I don't think you will be happy with trying to paint the boat while the rubrail is still on the boat . It will be very hard to get the prep right all the way up to the rail , and it will be very hard to tape the rail completely to keep paint off the rail and not have holidays in the paint up against the rubrail . I would just take the rail off very carefully and reinstall it very carefully after the paint is finished .

Well I have talked myself into leaving it on, and I think I will incorporate a nice metallic silver stripe that will be on both sides to help hide any imperfections! think.gif think.gif :smile16:

I know it will be difficult! But to those who don't know it will look great! It's like painting a car with the chrome on, been there and done that! :smile16:

Yeah but for that to happen we would both have to be at an event. So not very likely.
