Not yet, I'll check into it tonight! Got two of my buddies who want to start helping out at the shop! Maybe do some car projects and flip them kind of thing. So I would just appreciate the extra hands being around! I'm trying to get my kids involved with the Sanger project, so they can experience the rewards of working with your hands, and accomplishing a goal with a gas powered machine! I guess I will have to teach both of them how to drive it once it splashes! That is after I learn how! :smile30:

yessir, I heard that. good plan.  I'm sure you won't have to twist their arms when it comes to learnin to drive the boat either.  :cheesy: Give them something to look forward to thru the winter months.

I am thinking about doing a carpet install on the Kona . Is there a good write up on it somewhere , or do I just jump in a get er done ? I am not putting a floor in , just carpeting everything but the stringers .

I did my carpet in the Hawaiian. It took like 2 hrs to remove, clean and re-install the new! I have a number to a good carpet place if you need to buy some material. I think I even have a partial can of glue as well! :smile30:( No I have not been sniffing it either!) :smile16:

I don't have carpet because I didn't want carpet in my boat. May as well lay a big ass sponge on the floor of the boat.  lol :cheesy:

Unlike Kenny I am not really trying to worry about the weight of a few cups of water , so I think I will put carpet in it for now . I just hate vacuuming carpet , but I am not tearing the boat down to do gel coat on it .

Wasn't really a weight saving issue honestly... more the fact of not having a floor that would hold moisture & be a bich to clean up on top of that.

After looking at the rubrail last nite, I'm thinking it will be no easy task to remove. :smile25: And if I remove, it most likely will not go back on. So I have a plan B that will incorporate that little rub rail into the paint job, and it should look just fine. :smile30: This aint no show boat! :smile16:

yeah thats an item you don't want to try and replace ! the way it's fit to the hull is a work of art in itself ! goes from 90* to 0* to 90* all in the space of about 24" with about an 8" radius turn thrown in just for giggles AND it's not riveted on it actually has little threaded studs with a nut on them. very nice stuff !

After doing the rub rail on Knotty Girl and that one was suppose to be easy you will have a very difficult time with the Sanger. That looks a whole lot more difficult.  my .02

That's the feeling I have as well! Plus it has silicone on all the threads. So I can picture most of them breaking while trying to remove! crazy.gif

If you are not removing the moulding, then stripping the boat back to the original gel needs to be reconsidered also. I would probably try to work with the existing paint surface because stripping up to the rubrail without removing it will be next to impossible to make it look right.
