do you want me to stop by on tuesday?

I finally got the transom adapter off the boat this evening , hoping to be changing pumps tomarrow morning . I really don't expect it to be that bad from here on , but the guy that installed my pump last time used about three cases of clear silicone to put everything together . Funny thing is even with all the silicone that was gobbed onto it both the bowl and the transom adapter looked like they were leaking at the bottom . I thought I was never going to get the damn adapter off of there and then Jim told me a little trick to it and  I got it off in less than 30 minutes .

Yeah , I was kinda wondering about that . Probably a good idea to go ahead and remove it just to be sure .

you might want to see if the blots will come out, they seam to be pain in the as after a while ..some thing about aluminum and stainless .I had to drill out the ones in the rogers and Kieth finished it up for me  I think I paid some else to do this a while back..

I read somewhere that it is not good to use stainless on the loader ? The deal I read said to use grade 8 and change them once a year or so if I recall correctly . I will try to remember where I read that .

Here is the thread I was reading about loaders , kinda makes you think a little about how often you look under the boat  :smile30:  This is where I was reading about the stainless bolts not being the right bolt for the loader .

Anyone know if this is correct or not ? Is it just a matter of preference , or more horse power in race boats ?

should be bolted-through the intake w/ high grade bolts, and nutted on the backside. don't forget the silly cone.

From what I gather from that thread, loader failure can happen in any boat. When I pull the engine out, I will definitely be removing my loader & drilling it so it can be thru-bolted.

Being able to take it out easily & try different ones would be an additional benefit.

Not enough clearance to safely drill through the intake without taking a chance getting into the pan when the bit breaks through , so I guess I will stick with grade 8 and locktite until the motor is out of the boat to drill without taking chances .
