There is nothing "special" about it but the new 350 is dressed, rigged,  and ready to go in. The new gimbal ring and trim sensors are installed and the transom assembly is ready to go back on. I ordered all new mounting studs, seals and gaskets for it from Mercruiser, so when all that stuff gets in I can start putting it back together. I still have a long way to go but I am wearing it down a little at a time.

Your getting it done,  more than we can say about you know who :smile30:

Got one box of stuff in and the second should be in by the end of the week. Now I know how Radar felt having a Jeep shipped to him one box at a time!!  LOL!!  Problem is the SEMA Show Challenger is suppose to come in by the end of next week and I wanted to have this done before that. :smile15:

Well............since this site is about learning from each other I decided that I will share my dumb azz mistake. I got the new engine installed and fired up. Went through the basic checking water circulation, setting timing, carb, bleeding trim pump, etc. Engine had been running on the hose for a while and running great so I proceeded to bleed the air from the power steering pump. If you have done this before you know that the drive will sometimes shake violently. Being in the boat operating the steering wheel I didn't notice it shook the hose off the drive.  I noticed the temp gauge pegged out and shut it down before it did any damage to the engine but not  before it burned up the new impeller and housing. Two steps forward and one back. LOL!!!  Moral of the story is, always tie the ear muffs on especially if you are going to bleed the power steering pump. I did this Tuesday and replaced the impeller Wednesday so it is back up and running again but it still sucked because you have to pull the drive to replace one on an Alpha I.

i use the pass through muffs, has a wire that you feed through the water pick up, was a friction lock on the other side

i have burnt up an impeller before, wake sure you fish out all the pieces other wise they just end up at the oil cooler

Here is the update. I got the new engine in and running and just lack a couple of little tweaks to be ready for a sea trial. Going to try to break away later this week to take it to the lake for a test run. In other words, after a bunch of time and money I am back to where I "thought" I was 3 months ago!!!! LOL!!!!! :smile15:

Been getting real frustrated dealing with a some issues around the shop (including scrambling to replace my air compressor that went out) so I decided I would take a few hours this morning to go to the lake and finally do a test run on the boat to see if everything works. It will either help with the frustration situation or really stack it on thick!!!! LOL!!! I guess I will soon find out!!!!

Well it sounds like a good plan. Just go alone, so there are no witnesses in case you have to dispose of it! :smile30:

The only tool in the bag is a crescent wench. That's all I will need to pull the drain plug if the boat doesn't work!!!!  :smile30:
