Hey Cliff, we went to Mike's today. DAMN!! That place kicks a$$. After spending a couple of hours there we are definitely getting a 4x4 Slash. Is your Stampede a 4x4? We didn't buy one, but are definitely looking.

ok, just scammed some secrets...I found out that's why my little electric car seems to impress everyone.... crazy.gif
It IS a water breakin....you power up the damn thing with 3.6 volts, with long leads, and drop it in water. for 20 frickin' minutes. This is only, however, for those who want the ultimate output from the motors...not normal breakin...
the hand-soap thing I wasn't supposed to tell anyone about..lol :smile30:
the motor needs to be dryed with brakleen, and the end bushings re-lubed after the "break-in"
Take it for what it is, this is from old-school, hard-core r/c guys.

Is the water distilled?  The reason I ask is this.....  Distiller/mineral free water does not conduct electricity.

Interesting.....

I'm curious.  Is this supposed to help remove impurities in the windings to increase conductivity thus, improving efficiency?

all he would tell me is it's like taking a wet-stone, and well, you know..shapes the brushes to the commentator, just so.....also I have to add, they use a special comm-lube when they are done..... crazy.gif

all I know is the the lil' motor I sent to him hauls frickin' balls....

LOL!  I can see that.  Improving brush contact would increase current flow.  crazy.gif

Always tryin over analyze stuff......

What about just going with a brushless motor? The Traxxas I'm looking at has a brushless motor.

Word is the worst running brushless motor will still outperform the finest tuned brushed motor almost twice over.

Ya, it's not just a brushless motor thing...you have to change other parts too.......like Duane alludes to.

yeah, but then he has to change ESC and battery..... crazy.gif

The battery too?

From what I've been reading these old transmissions I have probably wouldn't hold up to a brushless motor... supposedly a whole different animal.

lipo's are generally used for brushless, fast comes with a price....amperage! nicads and nimh's don't have the capacity.
