Good support from Traxxas. I called te main office here in Plano and talked to some kid. He said that we burned out the motor and he's sending me a new one free. Sweet!!

He asked me if I broke the car in properly. I told him I didn't see anything in te instruction manual about breaking it in. It's an electric motor for cryin' out loud. I guess I've heard it all. Lol.

Told ya Traxxas warranty was good stuff. Good to hear they still coverin stuff like that. :smile16:

Dude, you say that about breakin in an electric motor, when I was tryin to find info about some of my old ones, I ran across a thread on a site where guys racing these things would take a new motor, hook it straight up to a battery, & drop it in a glass of water while it was running?! :smile26:

I don't know exactly what that was supposed to do to 'em, but generally water & electronics is not a good mix, lol... But there was several of 'em talkin about it....

yep we did that with the motors on electric buggies when racing it let you spin them high and kept them cool and helped get the brushes set in to the armature good ... if it works for fuel pumps in gas tanks what the hell

The wind laid down late this afternoon.  It might just do the same tomorrow.  Anybody up for flying tomorrow?

yeah, but then he has to change ESC and battery..... crazy.gif

Generally the brushless motor will be sold with a matching ESC. The LiPo battery is not required, but the brushless motors just love to eat em up. They will still outrun a brushed motor on the same battery.

Anyway, I just got a 1/10 scale Slash 4wd Trophy truck that comes with a Valineon brushless motor and the VXL-3s ESC. The car also comes with a 5000 mAH 2 cell LiPo battery. The radio is a 2.4 Ghz 3 channel freq hopper. Add to that a high current connecter, RPM a-arms, and two sets of race tires and wheels.

This puppy is going to haul A$$!! and I got it at a ridiculous price..

Sounds like you got a good deal James.  You electric guys are funny.  I am surprised there are no nitro guys in here bustin your balls.

On another note, I'll try to find where the NRCDA 10th scale drag guys are racing this summer (If they are still around).  That is some crazy stuff right there.  0 to 80+ actual MPH in a scale 1/4 mile.  In scale MPH that would be 800+ MPH.  The electric guys kill on the 1/4 mile stuff.  They can drain a battery in one pass.

James & Cliff,

You guys should also go check out Indy RC world in Garland.  It's more of a grass roots old school hobby shop so it's not a polished as Mike's BUT they have an indoor nitro track.  If they still run them there, the sprint cars are cool to go watch.

I've always thought nitro was the way to go. I had a couple of nitro cars and a nitro plane in my day, but these electric cars now are just sick. This car I got will run over 60 with the brushless motor and LiPo battery, and do it for over 30 minutes!!

I hear ya but there is just something cool about nitro.  You will never get the sound and smell of nitro with that electric car and I love that smell. Don't take me wrong. I'd love to have an e-revo. The after run on a nitro truck is kind of a PITA.
