James & Cliff,

You guys should also go check out Indy RC world in Garland.  It's more of a grass roots old school hobby shop so it's not a polished as Mike's BUT they have an indoor nitro track.  If they still run them there, the sprint cars are cool to go watch.

Where's it at? I'll go check it out tomorrow.

Saturn @ Miller. It's been there forever.

Costs $5 to attend a practice session there to where Mike's is free, but it's a lot closer to me. Gas money and time alone would be worth the 5 spot.

You know, if the fridge business doesn't work out I could put an indoor dirt track inside our shop.. A lot of room in there.

Very nice bro!!

Those tires on the red wheels.. There was a dude at Mike's last week that had a Slash sporting a set of those. His truck was by far the best handling out there. Where the stock BFG tires have great grip, on that high speed corner at the end of the front strait the other fast trucks with stock tires would flip from too much side bite. Those tires with the tiny knobbies let it slide to the side, but have incredible forward bite.

Don't go up there tomorrow.  They are closed on Monday.  Trust me, if the appliance business does not work out the last thing you want to do is open a hobby shop/RC track.  I looked into it myself a few years back.  All you can hope to make is nickles and dimes.  There has been quite a few to try unsuccessfully around here.  The only independents that seem to make it are the one's that have been here forever.

Looks like Tuesadays are race days also on the schedule. I'll get over there in time.

Might call first.  They are pretty bad about updating their site.

EDIT:  Looks like Tuesday is still a race night.  There is some recent talk about Indy in the last 2 pages of this thread. Including someone asking about Tuesday in the last couple of weeks.

EDIT II: It also looks like they have a big event coming the end of February.

I'm gonna go check out Indy RC World as soon as I get finished up here.

Just went to Mike's Hobby Shop website and checked out the live cam. Looks like the new updated carpet track is up and running.

Sounds like you got a good deal James.  You electric guys are funny.  I am surprised there are no nitro guys in here bustin your balls.

On another note, I'll try to find where the NRCDA 10th scale drag guys are racing this summer (If they are still around).  That is some crazy stuff right there.  0 to 80+ actual MPH in a scale 1/4 mile.  In scale MPH that would be 800+ MPH.  The electric guys kill on the 1/4 mile stuff.  They can drain a battery in one pass.

I've always thought nitro was the way to go. I had a couple of nitro cars and a nitro plane in my day, but these electric cars now are just sick. This car I got will run over 60 with the brushless motor and LiPo battery, and do it for over 30 minutes!!
I hear ya but there is just something cool about nitro.  You will never get the sound and smell of nitro with that electric car and I love that smell. Don't take me wrong. I'd love to have an e-revo. The after run on a nitro truck is kind of a PITA.

So does that mean you have a nitro truck Matt? I like the idea that my 8 year old can drive it not destroy. The Slash's are pretty much bash-mobiles. The guys at Mike's are beating the crap out the Slashes.

One thing cool about the ESC that comes with the brushless motor. There is button that will only let it run at half speed.. so Edward will ONLY be able to get it up to 30.. LOL

Okay guys. Jacob got his new Titan 12T 550 motor in the mail today. Before I install it, should I break it in by energizing it and dipping it into distiller water for 30 seconds first to break it in?

Ya my engineering background says no as well but Duane said to and also posted up a YouTube video of how to do it. But I specified the motor model number just in case someone knew of a specific reason not to do that procedure on that particular motor. Know where I'm coming from??

I say go for it!  Hell, it's only money.  You can always make more tomorrow!  lol.  It's been documented with good results.

I'll say do it, just because Kona said not to. :smile17: :smile16:  :smile30:

I'm with Duane, someone tells me not to do something that's all the more reason to make it happen.. Oh, and "Jacob" got a new motor, huh? I'm not buying that one, not even for a second... HAhaha
