I have a 20' invader with 2x6 stringers all the way to the bow! lots of extra weight but it can take a beat'n fosho...............I also have a center 1x that runs from the front of the engine to the bow, it hold up the little floor I have between the stringers. After it clears the floor it goes up to the deck!

If you want a strong set-up I think this would be the way to go ...........but what do I know :)

i was wandering how jumpin jack took that beating

Blue Collar, your boat sounds like basically the same setup as mine. Engine rails/stringers stop just in front of the engine, "boxing" it in... One center stringer running the rest of the way with a floor on top.

Seems that if you do away with your floor, you would need to run a pair of stringers the length of the boat to give it some "backbone", don't think one in the center alone would be enough? Also, all the full stringer boats I've seen without floors, the stringers are utilized as mounting points for seats, foot throttle, etc. so there is that to consider as well...

Should not be to much prep (Ihope) the paint on the boat is in great shape just to much white for me. I am gonna two tone it and stripe it. I need to keep it simple for my first time tackling painting anything other than my Mongoose with the skyway mags... LOL

You need to keep pics of the new boat posted Stu. Host a paint my boat party, and you could probably round up a couple of extra hands to help with the sanding and taping. Just a thought!

That should be good..I will set back and watch and drink the beers..HAHA You will spend more money on the tools and stuff vs what some one will charge you to do the work.. Just a couple of cents worth...
