Is there an all aluminum 6.0?

The L76 in 07-09 Silverados, Suburbans and what not with a vin code of Y are all aluminum as well as the last two years of the GTO versions. Maybe a few Vettes also.

I would def stay all aluminum for the weight benefit. Would also be nice to already be 6.0L without stroking it. Just my O2.

An iron block will also have less heat issues (or lack of needed engine heat) running lake water for cooling the block.

I thought only the 6.2 was all aluminum ?

There are a gazzilion all aluminum motors out there. The original 5.7 liter LS1's in the Camaros, Corvettes and Firebirds were all aluminum and all other subsiquent motors that came in Vettes. The 5.3's in the performance vehicles wth "SS" are all aluminum as well as the 5.7 and 6.0 GTO and CTS-V motors. Plus the newer 6.0 trucks.

Also, you can beat on the iron blocks a lot harder using boost, nitrous, or both. Did you catch the article on page 11 in this thread where they boosted a stock bottom end iron block 4.8 liter to 26psi with twin 76mm turbos on Rocket 118 octane gas and got 1,205 horsepower? That's just over 4 horsepower per cubic inch!

Imagine the look on someone's face when tell them that was a 292 cubic inch small block that just blew the doors off their 500+ inch blower motor.

I will totally go for something like this if I can heat wrap the turbos good enough.

NA that little 292 cranked out 450hp with it's ported heads, mild cam, and FAST intake!!

Here's another great article where they got 594hp out of a boosted 5.3 for just a tick over 3k including the wiring harness, turbo, computer, everything.

Does anyone have any info or input on this LS intake? It's aluminum and can be ported. Out of the box they flow as good as an LS6 intake, almost with a FAST intake. On a boat it may be a good thing that it's aluminum. It's definitely supposed to be a great choice for power adders. Stock injectors fit too.

A few of the LS1 F-Body guys were running that intake. When I say a few I mean very few. The FAST was much preferred over that Weiand. For the money I would stick with a stock LS6 or the FAST one. You should be able to find either an LS6 or FAST used pretty easily. There is a lot of guys out there making more HP than you are after with a stock LS6 intake and power adders.

I've seen them cheaper than that. That is either an early LS1 intake or one of the SLP intakes with EGR. The EGR port can be plugged or you can just get a later stock LS6 intake without the EGR port. EGR was removed in 2000 or 2001. There should be plenty of stock LS6 intakes out there. They were used on all LS1 and LS6 Vettes and F-bodies after a certain model year (2000 I believe).

I just asked cause I found one for under $200. Should have mentioned that I guess. An LS6 intake would be great, but for $200, I think this is a good second choice. Right now I have the winning bid on Ebay for $152.50 + $16 for shipping with 4 hours left.

If I lose this bid on this I know I can find an LS1 intake for $100 that will fit the bill just fine also. Plus polishing it out will look totally trick!
